134 US troops have been killed in November, the second deadliest month for our soldiers since we lost 135 in April. I'm sure all you armchair generals will brush this off as "the cost of war," which is easy since you're not the one paying it. As someone who has a family member in the Nat'l Guard over there, it scares me to read the headlines each morning. Anyway, there's been a lot of talk about domestic issues lately, so I thought I'd just remind everyone that we're still at war, and that the mission is still far from accomplished.

I marched against the invasion of Iraq but I have no time for people who bomb people who are trying to help the Iraqi people, like Margaret Hassan. It pisses me off how NOTHING can be the terrorists fault. Shi'te festival bombed? Blame America, never mind the bombers. Ect, ect, ect. I'm all for opposing America and its behaviour, but let's not let the terrorists off either.

Speaking of the "ultimate" terrorist. What has George done about him lately. Oh that is right. He just dosen't matter anyway or anymore.
Welcome to Canada George. Where we think you are a moron and the people who voted you back in can't be too far behind you on that scale.

You won't get anywhere with this, although I agree with you on the latter part of your post. In case you aren't aware, every person in Iraq is completely innocent, and those that do bad things were forced to by the brutal U.S.
I wish the media would stop using this PC word...'insurgents'. I feel the media and everyone else should call them what they are: Islamic Terrorists
I know that the war is still taking place and have 3 immediate (2 brothers and father) family members still serving active duty. However I still support our actions and our government and our elected president. I love how everyone dwells on the negatives. How bout some perspective:
American military deaths in previous wars:
* World War II - 408,306
* Korean War - 54,246
* Vietnam War - 58,219
* Operation Iraqi Freedom - 1,251 as of yesterday
All lives are important and precious. I do not mean to lessen the value of those who have passed.

Yes it's a Christian Terrorist against the Islamic Terrorist war.

Didn't you guys fight in WWI?
You are correct. Aside from the few foriegn people fighting in Iraq. They should be known as Iraqi citizens fighting for their country against an invading army. That isn't too tough to swallow is it?
And let us not forget the people dying in war. No matter which side they are on.
I wonder if a country invaded America because of your president and his fucked up ways. And when they got him fairly quickly kept on bombing the fuck out of America. Would you just sit around with your thumbs up your ass or would you fight back. And would you brand yourself a insurgent or would you be a "patriot" fighting for your country. Always curious with where you Yanks get your point of views.

I know what you mean, while Iraqis fighting the soldiers is one thing, what I'm sick of is that whenever the terrorists deliberately kill innocent people, it's always America that's blamed and the people who done it are forgotton!

That I can understand. But they will always point to the fact that the military is there and no matter how bad Saddam was. The country didn't go to the chaos that it is now under. Even with those sanctions. Somebody must have been doing something right.
A husband and wife were tortured separately about the sale of a car which, investigators claimed, had been seized during a raid on Iraqi opposition activists. The woman was stripped, burnt with a lit cigarette and beaten while her children were forced to watch. Her husband's arms were tied behind his back and he was suspended from a hook. Later, he was shot at with a pistol and his feet and hands were mutilated with gunshots. Eventually the family paid a bribe and the couple was released and managed to flee the country.
Saddam's son, Uday, maintains "a private torture chamber" in Baghdad, and "personally executed dissidents in Basra" during the 1991 uprising. He also "ordered the national football team to be caned on the soles of their feet after losing a World Cup qualifying match".
Women are routinely beheaded on charges of prostitution. The identity card of one Iraqi militiaman, Aziz Salih Ahmed, is reproduced and describes his occupation as "violation of women's honour", that is, a professional rapist.
Horrendous prison conditions, such as the "Casket Prison" in Baghdad, where "prisoners are kept in rows of steel boxes, as found in mortuaries, until they either confess to their crimes or die. There are around 100-150 boxes, which are opened for half an hour a day to allow the prisoners some light and air".
A commander's letter chastising a subordinate, saying: "There is no objection to cutting off the heads of traitors. But it would have been preferable had you also sent them to security for the purpose of interrogating them."
A decree passed in 2000 allowing the amputation of the tongue as a penalty for insulting the president or his family.

What makes this war a bit more "special" in those regards is that it was an optional war. We did not have to fight it. (Yes, you could make the same argument for Korea/Vietnam, but certainly not WWII). Any life lost could have been avoided.
Also, I agree with you that all lives are important and precious, so let's not also forget about civilian deaths, which gets ignored all too commonly.

All war is an option. Even WWII. However, those who fail to fight for what they believe in, or for a greater good (and I'm speaking generally), usually end up fucked. A failure to resist, or rather, a failure to stand up is a stamped ticket for oppression.

I figured someone would say something like that.
How about this--the necessity of national security was much higher in question when Pearl Harbor was bombed than it was when this war started.

But we could have built our defenses, been prepared for another attack. That's what the left argued before Afghanistan and Iraq. Close up the borders. Get that missile defnese program working, improve airline security.

Yup, they had everything in check.
So, it's your assertion that America was duly obligated to put an end to this? Certainly then, we are obligated to invade North Korea and the Sudan and about a dozen other countries.

Then you agree with what the "insurgents" are doing in their own country. Resisting just like you would so they don't get oppressed by somebody who is not like them. Just like you would.
