It took me a good hour or so to work out the tones on these. I took them last September:

Image

This was facing one of Southern Illinois' state parks. Shawnee National Forest is seen in the distance on the horizon.

Image

That's Bald Knob Cross on top of the hill. I've never been but they have a lot of local events up there, motorcycle shows, BBQs, Americana-type events. I call it "Light Over Bald Knob Cross."

Image

This is off of Inspiration Point. The Mississippi River is in the distance (about 3-6 miles) although its not seen in this picture. Its in the Shawnee National Forest which is about 40 minutes from town, and the trail up there is very, very rough for cars. Once you get out, its a 15 minute walk to the point itself, which you get to by actually going under a fence and down a very narrow and steep cliff. The view, however, is totally worth it. College students and hippies go up there to smoke pot and drink. For this shot I really struggled with the exposure and spent a good amount of time cleaning up some of the muddiness of bottom half.

Image

This is also taken off Inspiration Point, facing south.

Classy photos matey...

I'm not to sure if this classifies as a landscape, but I like it - This was taken from a white water rafting base thing in Oboke Koboke, Japan. Fucking classy place.

The 2000 Census says 563374

Here are some other interesting demographics.

http://seattle.areaconnect.com/statistics.htm

In Dash's photo, there's a little white pointy building- the tallest thing to the right of the big black building (the black one is the Bank of America building) the pointy white one is called the Smith Tower and at one time it was the tallest building west of the Mississippi. And it still has an elevator operator.
