It's a thorny subject, but the celts are meant to have originated in central Europe (France and Germany) and then migrated towards the British Isles. The vikings came afterwards.

Actually, you're right about Belgium. I remember reading that, at the time of WW1, the country was often referred to in the UK as "gallant little Belgium".

It's true we kept the germans here in WW 1. Flanders fields... that's exactly where I live.
WW 2 however... our king was such a coward then...
