I'm a 20 year old recovering alcoholic. I grew up in a small town where there were only 2 things to do. Baseball and beer. I started drinking around 13 and never really quit. It got to a point when i was a Sophomore in highschool where i could drink a 30 pack and be relatively uneffected. Then for some reason i quit partying. I'll still have a beer now an then, but my go out and get hammered days a gone and i dont really miss them that much.

well..your first problem is baseball...it's a pussy sport. Just kidding buddy....I have a baseball issue(if you read the sports board you wuld know). That's pretty cool that you realize you have aproblem and can still drink some beers anyway. I think i had something similar to that. i used to drink vodka, tequila, jack, right out of the bottle til i almost bit it a couple of times. I almost killed somebody one night and decided to quit liquor. I really only drink beer now. Once in awhile I'll have a gin and tonic or something light but i haven't gotten drunk off liqor for almost 10 years. I think it can be somewhat controlled......what the fuck is going on? aren't there young chicks to pick up here?

I started when i was 14 (23 now). I also picked up drugs at the time but i burned out around 19 so i stopped doing it (i hate to say quit cause you have to be addicted to quit)...i know i shouldnt drink alot but i enjoy it. i usually go out 1-2/week.

I was 15 when I was introduced to the wonderful world of alcohol. It's always nice to have a friend who has an older brother. We were broke kids who had paper routes so we got cheap Popov (shivers) vodka and Pepsi. good times.

you're not an alchoholic if you just decide to stop partying one day. its hard and its a daily struggle with not drinking.

I grew up in a small town where there were only 3 things to do, play football, have sex with your cousins, or slam mexican black tar heroin. I picked up the needle at 10, by the time I was 28, I'd lost the family farm, put my mother in an early grave, and earned a living on the streets either sucking cock, pawning stereo equipment, or selling blood. I was spending upwards of $1200 a day on heroin, and was never able to recapture that high. Finally, for whatever reason, I was just like, fuck this, and I decided to not do heroin anymore. Looking back, I don't really miss it. Sure, I'll do a speedball and suck off a stranger at the bus station now and again, but I'm never out of control.

I dont think i meant "alcoholic" in the literal sense. I drank WAY to much for someone of any age and I didnt even make a concious decision to quit...I dont even know where i'm going with this. Drinking a little = good times. Drinking a 30 pack in one night = a good way to destroy everything you have.

For some reason I always thought that I started drinking when I was 16, but I was actually 15.

I forgot about a specific drinking instance that occurred once, and then didn't occur again for like a year.
