It's just nice to see some general managers show some balls for once, and step up to some players. I really can't say i disagree with the man. Thomas is an idiot, even though he was my favorite player since i was a kid.

Frank Thomas has had this coming. Would i have expected it to come from Kenny Williams, no. But did he deserve it? Big time.
There is no one player that has been more of a baby, complainer and whiner then Frank Thomas since i've been old enough to follow sports closely.
As much as i hate the cuurent white sox, i hate frank thomas more.
I'm not that familiar with the situation, but from what I've read, Thomas has been acting like a big baby....

He's been a baby for virtually the past 5 years or so. When he first got hurt, he sat out most of the season and collected $7 million. The White Sox weren't interested in paying him more than that, and talked about not picking up his option 3 years ago. As a gesture of good faith, they agreed to sign him to a 1 year deal, with a player option for the 2nd year and a club option for the 3rd. This would have guaranteed Thomas's salary for a year, and allowed him to come back strong and try his hand in the free agent market with higher earning potential after the 2nd year. When he came back, however, he refused to play either 1B or DH. He pissed and moaned about having to do so. Then, after he got hurt again his 2nd year, he exercised his option, and was making something like $10 million a year, even though he wasn't playing full seasons or refused to do what the White Sox wanted him to do. Then, when he got hurt last year, the club obviously didn't want to pick up his option and pay him $13 million, so he left as a free agent.
Now, Thomas is saying he was mistreated by the White Sox organization, even though it bent over backwards to accomodate him and his whining attitude. Hell, he even threw out the first pitch of last year's playoffs because the club wanted to convey to its fans that the club still appreciates everything Thomas did. That's why he was given the trophy first by Williams at the White Sox World Series rally. Now the guy won't shut up. He can't move on, and has to have the last word. The guy's been a thorn in the club's side for about 5 years now.
I do feel kind of bad for him after all these injuries. He had an outside shot at 600 home runs and 3,000 hits. I think he'll get in the HOF eventually...

Thanks for the info, Seems like the club bent over backwards for the guy, no wonder williams told him to "catch fire".

I love how thomas has the audacity to say that Jim Thome is more injury prone than he his. He said he was just stating "the facts"? Thomas has played 108 games in two years.

I think most people utilized his nickname more in the 2nd half of his career than his 1st.

I'm a Cubs fan, and i'm glad to see Williams verbally bitch slap this whiney bitch. It correlates back to Sandberg's HOF speech last year about having respect for the game and Thomas has never had that. IT's always been 'Me me me' to him.
Reinsdorf has done alot for him and all he's done is mope around and bitch about it, ever since he came in the league. I'm glad he probably won't hit 500 homers or 3k hits, since it muddles his chances for the HOF. He may still get in, but this will make it tougher.
but i like kenny williams as a GM. actually, i'd trade the mgmt for the team i root for w/the sox' mgmt anyday.
