Quote:
Fear not, Arrested Development fans. The quirky sitcom about a hilariously dysfunctional family may have been unceremoniously dumped by the Fox network, but it looks like Showtime is coming to its rescue.

The New York Post's Page Six reported Tuesday the cable network has not only picked up the cancelled show, it has ordered 26 more episodes. The news supports recent Internet rumblings about producers hammering out a deal with Showtime execs.

The two-hour finale of the critically-acclaimed series nabbed only 3.3 million viewers when it aired on Feb. 10 on Fox.

Great news for all, except for those without Showtime, myself included. At least it'll be on TV.

This isn't going to get me to buy Showtime, but I'll look forward to the DVDs, which I wouldn't be getting if it fully disappeared.

Put your money where your mouth is folks.

if you're excited the show is being saved- thank showtime for doing it for subscribing for a few months a year.

I know I will switch from HBO (which is useless unless Sopranos, Curb or Lucky Louie are on) to Showtime.

This is excellent news. I doubt that I will be getting showtime (i don't even know if they have it in Canada without a satellite) but I will be buy any new DVD's that come out. It's good to know that at least some networks have some sense about them.

This I agree with. The bleeping was funnier than any curse word could ever be. Normally i am against the bleep (as in the case of Trailer Park Boys), but it works in AD's favor.

This is awesome news. I already have Showtime, I'm a HUGE fan of Penn and Teller's Bullshit.

The bleeps are funny, but it won't crush me if they go full on with the cursing. They'll be able to do a LOT more than they could do on Fox, so I'm really eager to see where this show goes now.

I can't wait to tell my mom, she'll be happy too.

With those writers, and David Cross involved, I am sure we are in for some pretty crazy stuff with this on pay-cable.

That's really exciting. Hopefully it's not just a rumor.

It makes me feel bad that I can't afford Showtime so I can support my favorite show. But I'll be looking forward to the dvd's.

Wouldn't I be showing my thanks to Showtime by buying the DVDs? I'm guessing they aren't going to just give them away.

No. No you wouldnt.

The whole reason this show got cancelled in the first place is because people said how much they loved it... but no one bothered to watch it....

do you really think showtime is gonna let the show live long if no ones really watching it?

Valid argument. I guess I just don't know that I love Arrested Development enough to buy a channel I have no interest in. That could change, though.

The reason it got cancelled was that the vast majority of people were ambivalent towards it.
