No, I am looking forward to hearing just how political it gets actually. The more the better.

I'm worried about vague titles.

Welcome to RM.

People must not be watching the news, because I see a lot of people that are worried about this album being too political. I hope every last word on this album has some sort of political resonance. I hope it's a big kick in the gut to make some people WAKE THE FUCK UP!!

I guess it's too much to ask, though, for people to crawl out from under their blanket of comfort and realize what is really going on.

It depends what kind of politics it has. If the stabs we're making at WWS are correct than no. As long as it is not so grounded in specifics that it'll get dated fast (bushleaguer) then I have no worries.

i just hope it doesnt turn gimmicky, overkill on any subject blows the big one.....however, if the song structures are great and different the content can be similar i spose.

Damn it, Stip. Now my previous post has no meaning.

I mean, I'm not worried about titles anymore.

thems the breaks.

I don't even remember what the original title of this thread was and that was two minutes ago. :) (is that what you're complaining about?) I can't believe we don't have a new album apprehension thread up already, but since we still have 3 months this seems like a useful one to keep around.

sorry--I get it now (I hate when I need an arrow. I'm slipping). But sometimes when I merge a thread or change a title certain things DO get lost so that's my new default reaction.

i dont mind the social commentary (WMA, etc).....but if all 13 songs had something to do with Iraq or Bush i'd be pretty bummed.

for those of you that are into the political 'bushleaguer' stuff, that's great. but its not my cup of tea. i dont agree with some of their views sometimes, but i still love pearl jam.

if politics is what makes Vedder passionate these days to make music/lyrics then good for him........i just hope thats not the case.

Who is Eddie going to "Wake The FUCK UP" exactly. The only people that are going to listen to this song are people who already got woke the fuck up or aren't ever going to. Eddie has come from about every different angle to work politics into his songs over the years. I'm honestly just bored of it. I was really hopeing he'd get away from it to a large degree on this record. I really thought it was the perfect time for them to release a record that just says FUCK politics! and let up a bit for one album. I mean I've really appreciate songs like Grievence, Bushleauger, Help Help, etc. etc. but DAMN.......ENOUGH ALREADY.... I GOT IT, THE GOVERNMENT SUCKS and you're not real happy about it. I really don't need to hear it for the 10,000 time.

Some of their best songs are political (insignificance, grievance) as are some of the worst (bushleaguer). A good song is a good song regardless of its content.

Sorry but I couldn't disagree more with that statement. Content is the most important thing in the song. Otherwise what is the point in writting a song to begin with?
