I could have also titled it "the only important part of Christianity".

Yes, but that would have ruined your initial intention.

There are many aspects of many religions that are solid ways to live. If they weren't, they would not have so many members.

I believe it was Marx who said "[religion] is the opium of the masses"

I agree with him.

Definitely Marx. It's in his essay on Hegel's philosophy of right (or something along those lines).

Nietzsche had a similarly skeptical view of religion, but that is not his quote. And he was a big music freak, so your quote of his sounds about right.

There's a passage in the Gay Science where he compares "love" to "music"... one of the most beautiful and moving passages I've ever read anywhere.

Definitely Marx. It's in his essay on Hegel's philosophy of right (or something along those lines).

ok, you're right, now that you mention his essay on Hegel's philosphy it all came back. something like

"Religion is the sigh of the oppressed creature, the heart of a heartless world and the soul of soulless conditions. It is the opium of the people."

I think it's important also to point out that when Christ was asked who thy neighbor is, he told the story of the good samaritan.

Wow. It took three posts instead of just two to get to the Christianity bashing. Perhaps you need to re-read the subject matter of the topic again.

I think it should read love thy like neighbor as thyself. Not that I agree with that sentiment it's just the prevailing wind nowadays.
