You know it will. You secretly hope it won't--but, it will.
You get to know a band in a form, and it becomes YOUR "original" form, but there might have been variations in the past. Ever crazier, the band can change in the future. And you find in the form you know purity, viriginity, divinity--whatever!, each and any person that's ever been attracted to another know that feeling (with a TKO!) when you find aren't they're not. It goes without saying really.
Anyways, I was saying that the new album will let you down bigtime, but it will still be good. You can tell by how much and how soon the band is inserting itself into the media before the album comes out because once its released it won't fan itself up. 1) Playing 15 second clips of a song, much less 2) internet communities that are faking songs which the alleged are their guesses of how the new album will sound like but which later to find out, like all singles, let you down, like this new album will, like all hot things selling at the market. 3) Aol 4) new website 5) the vault 6) new record label (tautology) 7) wife and kid guitarist that can now do drugs in the drummers care (soloing) (Riot Act). He's recovered, listen to it now. And that's the point, when you learn you can go forward or backward, like David Bowie's Heroes or Broken Social Scene's Bandwhich, which begin where they end. This realzation allows them the ultimate:
They can help J Records, They want to spread their political views--or Ed does, Stone doesn't but grudgingly committs so Ed will write lyrics to some of Stone's songs, so he can get some writing royalties, so when they release all those bootlegs, they'll make money on every single song--owning it and out of touch of the record companies. But Ed doesn't want to because he wants all the attention--sordid--the girl the bono or to be a paul mccartney. or, ever notice bowie sounds like black (francis) (pee wee herman, remember? escape, revealed a different culture, like their heaven, ours, mine, yours, theirs).
Virginia at Starbucks had red hair
are you out there okay
we'd like to know
We'd like to know.
And it's good.
But you know--best
But man,
There are some great songs. It just needs more consistency, a pattern, a code. Kind of like No, Code' no code to this cd, its style, its inspiriation, too many things in too many years to really sort through all of it which Ed had time to do single surfing on a sandiego beach--composition.confession.--everyone can relate, sells to the youth market that will buy----is the common denominator, and if they buy, then we know it's important. But without time to sort to find that stuff, you just are guessing and throwing darts in the dark. And you put it together, and it looks good--but you know something just isn't right about it--strange feeling.
But it's GOOD

got it? finally...
the band ain't what it was!
it can only be what it can, and they are failing to accept that (hubris) so they keep trying to be what it can't. and its an ironic ultimate failure

and it three albums breakup will become a possiblity, and who knows how it will teeter? maybe give way or maybe hold out again and further
it takes a lot longer to recover when thats the lifestyle of what you do

i really really like gone, comatose and wws, so why will the rest of it "let me down"?
they DO still have a political twinge, and ed's gotta drop it (or so Stone thinks) for success to follow in these years--it all went downhill when ed said it from the stage. just play and sing--don't talk.!retaliate and sabotage. ed wants it now, but the band he'll be waiting on, but they'll come--nice in two more albums, that tour--crazy, next album-a 'let it be'

i figure since we had heard 4 new songs out of 12 now that will make the album, over 30%, that people might wanna discuss their thoughts on the new album.
I really think that unemployable is a great song, really different! i liked it much better than wws. After all the hype it seemed to be somewhat of a let down to me, although i do like it as well because it shows that they have obviously found a new sound that i for one am excited about.
I am liking gone & comatose also, not so different to their older stuff but shows that the album has promise to cover a broader range.
i just burned myself a cd with the new songs on it

[quote="rockfan"]which version of comatose?......
it's not the best quality version from that instore they did, it's more distorted but i think that it sounds better that way and that it's a tighter & rawer version

Okay--having a thread to talk about the album as more tracks emerge seems like a good idea. if you don't like this thread don't post here. There's no need to start running down other posters just because they want to.
I was super excited from comatose and WWS. Gone I need to hear more of and unemployable was nice enough but feels like it will be filler to me in a few months--a song I bust out every now and then but rarely put into heavy rotation--like pretty much everything matt cameron has written for them. So unemployable actually dampened my excitement a tiny bit, but it is still huge

i have been listening to these two songs on repeat for the last 20 minutes. i realize that these are not next to each other on the new album, but it flows nicely. and it makes me a believer that this new album will be more like yield. where each song is good (perhaps not amazing and stand out tracks) but as an album from start to finish is very entertaining and amazing to listen to.

I think some songs will be very good (WWS) and others (Unemployable) I will just skip over and pretend they never existed.

I have my doubts about Wasted Reprise.

I just deleted the crap out of it. It's a useful thread to have around. Someone's just going to start one tomorrow.
