A House bill has been introduced that would change the 22nd amendment and enable George Bush to remain President for the rest of his political life.

The bill would repeal limitations on a President holding office for a maximum of two terms.

Calm down, it'll never happen. Stupid bills with no chance of passing get introduced all the time.

And he'd win, without any doubt.

Thanks, it was a too big mpeg, so I resized it and converted it to a jpeg. RM has crappy restrictions on avatars. guess it's a good thing though.

Back to the original subject. Does anyone know what it takes to repeal a constitutional amendment? Isn't it a majority of the states, or in lieu of that, some insanely overwhelming vote majority of the Senate?

I really don't see that happening. This is just political ass kissing. Interesting though to see who's kissing up!

It would be the same process as any other amendment to the Constitution.

Well, I thought you knew the process of amending the constitution, and I was letting you know that repealing a previous amendment is the same thing.

I believe the proposed amendment must be passed by a 2/3 vote in both houses of congress (i'm not sure if the President's signature is required or not) and then ratified by the legislatures of 3/4 of the states (39).

Thanks PD. Didn't intend to be rude. I'd have looked it up myself, but I'm a bit busy and thought someone might know offhand.

That shows what an impossible hurdle this would have to overcome and should quiet anyone's fears. That's all I was after. Thanks again.

You can also call a Constitutional Congress.

How does one do that, and with the Republicans in control of the whole federal government, why haven't they done this already?
