I could see Cheadle pulling this off. I'm guessing Hollywood will keep riding this musician biography money train until we're watching films about Flock of Seagulls.

I will have to see this, they could have Kanye as the lead, I don't care, Miles Davis is to music what Shakespeare is to writing

A biopic for Hank Williams has to be different. No happy ending. Shock! Horror!

i hope its like walk the line in the sense that it focuses on a specific period of his life because if they try to do it all in two hours it will fail miserably.

That would be amazing, but it's hard for me to imagine who would play Coltrane. Then again, it was hard for me to imagine someone playing Bird and Forest Whitaker was so human in his shoes. It would be interesting to see who could play Coltrane... And that's as a person, not as a sax player - no one can do that!!!

JW, yes, Coltrane was young - he was just forty when he died. And of course it was due to all the drug/alcohol abuse in his lifetime.

I think Don Cheadle is a great choice to play Miles. He's terrific when he dives into a role, which he'll have to do for a man like Miles, and he already has a good start physically - his facial features are very similar to Miles Davis'. My skepticism draws from the content of the script. It just seems like he was too diverse and too mystical a character to squeeze into two hours, even before you begin to approach his recordings. There's probably going to be a lot of talk about what they want to relay to an audience and I'm sure it will be dolled up plenty. If they wanted to make a real horrorshow, they'd base the screenplay on Miles Davis' autobiography.

Exactly, yeah. I'd go for the early sixties - Nefertiti-era!!!
