now that the album is completed, what does the band do for the next month and a half. I'm sure a lot of rehearsal to get the live product up to standard, but it's strange that they, along with a handful of other people, sit on the knowledge of what all the songs sound like, but there is this 2 month lag to get it out there. must be kinda cool if you are in the band. To know there are tons of people wanting to know what it sounds like and you have that knowledge.

I wonder if that drives them crazy. you are excited about having the songs ready, but have to wait for the official release.

Movies are often finished for months or more before release. That's gotta be worse. By the time the public sees a movie, many actors and directors have already finished their next project.

I know lots of bands are frustrated by that time between finishing it and getting it out. But I don't know what they do. Probably get drunk.

Rehearse new songs.

i guess my real point is about the frustration between being done and having nothing to do with any more of the tracks and getting it out there. Imagine finishing in february and getting to listen to it and knowing no one else is getting to listen to it. I'm sure for the first couple days it's a cool advantage to have over the fans and put out teaser interviews about songs and such. But with like a month and ahalf to go, these guys must want to pull their hair out and just have the fans listening to it.

They must want to hear the feedback and get the enjoyment of playing it live. it just seems like purgatory for the band as well as the fans. i wish this waiting period could be shorted somehow. it's not like 80% of the cd buyers aren't already super aware of the product and would be able to buy it in early april.

They may still be working on the album with production work and mixing such. Who knows?

This period is really the only time when I wish I knew someone in the band.

Does anyone know how long it takes an album to press and ship?

I was looking for a thread to merge this into just to make you happy but I couldn't think of one.

Sorry  I let you down. :D

They are at the gym tirelessly working off the studio pounds they put on before they go on tour.

Depending on the quantities, it usually take 5-6 weeks to press and manufacture an album. Then shipping to retailers 1-2 weeks. That is just the basics.

This time between album completion > release > tour... they are rehearsing and of course doing tons of radio and press interviews. sometimes it takes weeks for the articles to appear, but right now I'm sure they just doing press and of course, invovled in the album's marketing, etc... getting a marketing campaign is also an undertaking as simple as it might sound from the outside looking in.
