The thing that bothers me is that you'll get a multi-game suspension for using a corked bat.
With this new drug policy, what can they do?
Its cheating, plain and simple.
I think Giambi will take the biggest fall for this. The New York Media will eat him alive. He has played his last game for the Yankees, one way or another.

As a yankee fan it bothers me because I feel they are now being hypocritical..THey say they want to try to void is contract now but I guarantee you they KNEW he was using them...

I don't think they knew it for fact, maybe wispers of it though. I never wanted him on the Yankees in the first place, steroids or not it is a terrible contract. They are doing the right thing by trying to void the deal which will probably end up in some type of buyout, but you know that if his numbers were up they probably would not look to do it.

probably?... more like definitely... dan patrick said this yesterday... basically if giambi had sheff's numbers the tone would be more like "we want to do all we can to help him through this, and we will stand behind him through it all"

I totally agree with this. But IMO, his numbers are down likely BECAUSE he used steroids. Based on that, I can see the Yankees' point of view.
If he had torn his ACL running out a grounder (or any other injury/sickness not consistent with steroid use) and then they tried to void the deal, I think that would be different.

Does Barry think that everyone is really THAT dumb? it reminds me of the time that i stole some brownies from my mom. she asked if i had been eating them. i plainly told her "no" as i gazed down at my chubby belly.

Barry seems to think that he is above reproach and that nobody has a right to question his "accomplishments"
I don't think you'll ever hear him apoogize for any wrong doing.

As a Yankee fan, I am torn agout the Giambi situation. I liked him as a player, but I didn't think he could be the same player in New York. What he had in Oakland was a completely different situation that just seemed to work.
The Boss wouldn't be the Boss if he wasn't trying to find a way to void the contract. Giambi's production is down, he was out for the whole season and now it comes to light that he admittedly used steroids. George wouldn't be George if he didn't try to take advantage and better his chances of winning.
I feel bad for Giambi but nobody put a gun to his head and made him take steroids. He made a choice and he now has to live with it.

Should his HR record stand?
Does Steriods help you make contact with the ball?
If and when he breaks Aaron's record what should be done?
Would you still consider him one of, if not THE best to every play?
people will always debate these things no matter what happens.....Steroids do not help you make contact with the ball....who knows what will happen with the records....The mighty asterisk will always remind us..

Peter Gammons on the Mike and Mike Show said that there will be a Tremendous Asterisk next to all of Barry's accomplishments.
I don't think the juice improves hand eye coordination but I think it helped Barry stay at a level of performance longer than nature would have allowed.
The steroids allow you to recover better from working out and recoop faster than normal.
I think it's too early to talk about Aaron's record. There will be fallout before Spring Training, maybe tougher penalties for steriod use.
No, I would not consider him the best player because we don't know what he would have been like had he not used steroids.

Yes. His hr record should stand, but it should be noted that he cheated to get there.
I would never consider him the best of all time. I dont give a rats ass about his inflated numbers. He tainted the game. He is a cheater.
What he did is unfair to the history of game and to Aaron and Ruth.

It is also know that steriods make you more prone to injury.

i'm on the fence on this one ...
1 - roids are illegal so that's reason enough for an asterisk
2 - but you could also say barry chose to work out "harder" then everyone else... hank aaron didn't have creatine or MetRX or 99% of the crap at GNC but what does that mean??
it's also not the same game today ... were they facing the same caliber of pitching?? what if you put barry back then and babe in today's game??
too many what if's
I'll go with #1 - i say he's cheated his way to the top ... although if he was in a sox uniform and wasn't such a miserable prick I'd probably go with #2
and i hope the yankees don't get any help and are stuck paying giambi... it's only fair
i'm still bitter about the celtics having to take the hit for Reggie Lewis
