I've noticed throught the years that there are several Pearl Jam songs that remind me of songs by other bands. Some of these are deliberate, some may just be coincidence, and some may just be because I'm crazy and I'm the only one who hears it. Here is the list I've compiled, feel free to add your own if you've noticed any.

You Are reminds me of How Soon is Now by the Smiths

Jeremy reminds me of And the Same by Fugazi (listen to the bass line)

Insignificance reminds me of My Wave by Soundgarden

Even Flow reminds me of Voodoo Child and Third Stone from the Sun by Jimi Hendrix.

Alive reminds me of Love Theme from Kiss by Kiss

Nothing as it Seems reminds me of Comfortably Numb by Pink Floyd

Arc reminds me of Shadow by Nusrat Fate Ali Khan and also of The Star Spangled Banner by Francis Key.

Obvious/intentional ones:

Breakerfall and I Can See for Miles by The Who

Yellowledbetter and Little Wing by Jimi Hendrix

Soon Forget and Blue Red and Gray by Pete Townshend

Given to Fly and Goin' to California by Led Zeppelin.

Footsteps and Times of Trouble by Temple of the Dog [duh]

Other songs:

Smile sounds like something from Neil Young's album Ragged Glory, but not any particluar song. Driftin' is also Neil Youngish.

Dirty Frank reminds me of Red Hot Chili Peppers music. (it was written while on tour with rhcp)

Who You Are might be an alusion to Who Are You by The Who

and of course Rats quotes the song Ben by Michael Jackson.

Cattle Decapitation's song "Bukkake Tsunami" is a total rip off of Anal Cunt's song "I Lit Your Baby On Fire" no lie.

I wouldn't trust this guy as being a credible source, he once made an Tears For Fears-Mad World / Black Sabbath-Supernaut connection.

Have you ever heard the song "Behind the Bushes" from the band "The Knife"? It´s quite funny, because it´s based on Black´s
da-da-da--daaa-dadada-melody. You can listen to it here: http://www.amazon.de/exec/obidos/ASIN/B ... 48-5654612

I happen to be a huge Matt Mays Fan. Download his song "Stand down at Sundown", and tell me if you think the beginning doesn't sound exactly like something out of PJ's "Wishlist".

Geez..........I guess what I really wanted was a comparison like I first stated..........sorry i started the illegal download debate......I know it's wrong.........I mean hell............I didn't have my first beer till I turned legal age.......just like everyone else here. So maybe go buy the album..........feel good about the fact that ya paid the ten bucks, ( you could also pay 99 cents for the song itself ) and let me know what ya think about the comparison..........worst case senerio..........you get to own a fantastic album.

I'm glad I don't tape sporting events and show the replays to my friends.....I guess that would be Illegal too. Ok.....now I'm just getting plain freaked out.
