Still my favorite PJ song. I remember being in middle school...it was played at a school dance and I thought, this sounds so familiar, but it couldn't of course, since it was the first time I heard it, but it was so cool, just such a cool song.
It's been watered down through the years, but here's to Eddie ripping it up again on this new world tour.

Will always be the song that defines Pearl Jam to me. In those early concerts he put so much emotion into it, 1992-06-17 italy..milan , its pretty amazing to here. And Mike at the end just is wicked awsome.
Yea, this was the first song that got me into pearl jam. It was the summer when I was going into 8th grade the first time I heard it. I heard some of their other songs like Last Kiss before then but they really didn't do too much for me. Alive kicked ass.

definitely watered down
not to take away from the power of that song or any of the first album, but i could probably survive not hearing alive, even flow or jeremy on this tour. count black now that i think of it, i was watching live at the garden and black sounded like it was played about half speed..
okay getting off topic here..
the lyrics and the passion behind them on alive are what immediately seperated pj from the rest of the pack when i first got into ten.

I thought alive really experienced a live rebirth in 05. Go listen to philly
I have a ton to say about alive (especially the mamasan trilogy part, which I've always hated) but I want to wait for its SOTM. Someone else made a ten request for this cycle but i might bump it for alive.
music doesn't get any better than the last two minutes of this song--especially on the remix from RVM.

this is a song that will NEVER get old
i'll drink to that
i love playing this song full ball and belting out the solo
when i first started playing along i just improvised, but it sounded so good that i learnt the studio version off by heart
I will forever love that opening riff.
Great song, rarely on my list of "wants" going into a show but never a disappointment.
I remember Seattle 2000 when it finally came back after diasppearing for 45 straight shows. The show was already well on its way to legendary status and that opening riff just made the crowd go fucking nuts.
