looks kinda interesting. one of the producers of scrubs is working with this show now, so i'll probably check it out for that reason alone.

I hope they actually have writers that are/were teachers. If not, then it'll be really stupid.

if it's realistic at all, don't expect it to last long - there will be too many complaints from stuffy asshole teachers who think teachers are being portrayed too negatively.

if a teacher in the staff lounge refers to one of his or her students as "fucking retarded or something," you're seeing the real deal.

isn't this the wrong time to introduce a show? i mean, don't networks usually introduce the "good" shows in september or january and everything else is just short season filler that probably won't be around next year?

either way, i probably won't watch it partly because it doesn't look that interesting to me and mostly because i forget to watch anything regularly.

Agreed with both. Sad, but true.

I can't say the previews look particularly funny, but I'll tune in because Phil Hendrie is on the show-- out of all forms of comedy and whatever medium they use as a vehicle, I think Phil's schtick is the most consistently funny-- moreso than any other TV show or movie I've ever seen. If anyone doesn't know who Phil is and the "premise" of his show, I would strongly recommend checking it out-- once you "get it" (or hell, just read his entry on the wikipedia to see what distinguishes his radio show from others) you'll want to keep tuning in.

Anyway, I have high hopes for the show only because Phil's in it, otherwise looks like pretty generic fall replacement fare

huh, i was thinking it wouldn't last long cause of poor ratings.

The Phil Hendrie Show is hilarious! I don't know if this show will be though, I don't think Phil did any of the writing.

This is another remake of a great British comedy. As ever the US version is going to be shit.

UK Version

Why can't the US TV networks either doe one of two things:

1. Show the original British version. OK so some hicks in Utah may not get some of the references, but it's gonna be way better. For me this is like Creed covering 'Jeremy', fucking horrible and pointless.
2. Get some talented writers and actually come up with an original idea? I mean, the world does not need more 'Friends' remakes.

If you like the US version then good for you, but be warned the original fucking pisses on it.

Yeah cause the US version of "The Office" is pure crap. I would have to say the majority of people find the show pretty damn good. There is no way you can say it's "pure shit".

Also how do you know this one is gonna be "pissed on"????? I mean have you already seen the US version. Or is this just another case of some English guy thinking their comedy rules the world..... because personally I think it's a taaaaaaaaad bit overrated, actually usually downright annoying.

go make threads about english tv and soccer

Actually compared with the original, yes the US Office is 'pure crap'. It's ok, but what's ok compared to genius. Admittedly, I've not seen the US versionm but considering the track record of US remakes I don't want to. I can give you some examples as to this point:

Red Dwarf
Porridge
The Office
Fawlty Towers
Men Behaving Badly
Not the Nine O'Clock News
Dad's Army

And there's films that they've fucked up too:

The Italian Job
The Pink Panther
Get Carter
(I know there's more but I'm pushed for time as I'm at work...)

You mean like Friends, Ally McBeal & Seinfeld?

Hey, you're a funny guy. Why don't you write a sitcom?

The previews for this show look hoooooooooooooorrible. But since it's on after Scrubs, I will probably just sit and watch it for the first week.

well "The Office" to my knowledge is the only one of those shows that has done well in the America.... the others who the fuck knows i didn't know they were re-made, they probably did suck.

As far as Friends goes... ehhhh ok in the first few years, didn't watch any of it after that really (well the last episode I did). Ally McBeal?????? not sure never watched it. But Seinfeld sucking???? nah, tough to say that, I wasn't the hugest fan of it, but it definitly was classic.

She is smokin'. But I think I could do a better job than 3/4 of this cast. Every joke just seemed awkward, like they weren't delivering it right.

Thats what I was thinkin....but this is the pilot...so Im hoping the actors will warm up to their characters a little better as the season progresses.
