I wonder if Ed is proud of the fact that he had a hand in helping elect George W. Bush into the White House not once, but twice?
First in 2000 he was a loud proponent of Nader, and we all know if it weren't for Nader's 3% of the vote Bush never would have been elected.
Then in 2004 he and the rest the band joined the Vote for Change tour which of course was anti-Bush...but the tour came at the height of the celebrity backlash. The Republicans managed to convince Americans not to follow the whims of the rich liberal elite and the more celebrities jumped on the Kerry bandwagon, the worse his standings became.

But of course he is proud, I mean that's what he wanted, right?

You can seperate Church and State, but you cannot, Constitutionally, seperate the Church from the People.

Tough luck.

I wonder if the dems know how pathetic they are that they can't even beat one of the worst presidents we've ever had, and they blame everyone else and their mother for their loss.

Time to look in the mirror and stop blaming Eddie Vedder or Ralph Nader.

I am no longer sure who is to blame. Either the morons who love Dubbya, or the weak Dems that can't seem to get their heads out of their asses and grow a backbone. Call the republicans out on their fuckups!! That is why we need Nader!

Michael Moore was voted the most despised person in America or something like that. When that is the opinion of a vast number of people that has an impact to see him sitting next to Kerry. The Republicans connect more effectively with their base--Conservative Christians. Most of Middle America and the South falls into this category. You can see that from the voting breakdowns. Most of these people are hard-working day to day living people who have no reason to care much more about anyone than themselves and their families. This is who Bush plays to very effectively. Protect family values, trust the Bible, Protect the homeland, etc.

Democrats seem to be composed of a bunch of outsiders for whatever reason. People who get what is going on because they are educated or in a more urban environemnt but have no real way of convincing anyone that what they see is truth. Many people are Democrats just because they are not Christians or because they are people of color or because they are homosexual. How could any significant number of underrepresented people get in line with the republicans? So this party has too many issues and too many needs to truly mobilize.

Pearl Jam is a lot like the Democratic Party. At one point they were the King of the Hill but through their own efforts have become much less appealing to the middle class American majority and are fighting battles that are extremely difficult to win. Being on the extreme of a spectrum is never going to play nationally. Democrats in general are currently viewed almost as radicals by conservatives.

Nader is not the answer. Without corporate success our nation would crumble. Bottom Line. You can see it from all of the jobs lost during the Bush administration--what would happen if even more jobs were lost because of Nader's views on big business. I don't like it but it is the truth.

What makes you think YOU know what is best for the United States? Who are you to question someone's spirituality? And I don't know what a "Bible pusher" is, but you might want to check out a Bible for some good news.

I would much rather have a morally upstanding person as president than some clown who cheats on his wife, lies about it to his bosses, then does it all over again. All the while thinking his smarter than the population...

So being a cocaine abuser, driving under the influence, handing large contracts to companies you and your right hand man have direct ties to and trading away Sammy Sosa are "morally upstanding" qualities these days?
