I was sitting around the house yesterday talking to my mom about politics and celebrity activists and such. So naturaly Eddie was brought up. She started speaking about how he seems to get more negative publicity (yeah i know what you're thinking, Publicity? Eddie? I was thinking the same thing) then bono on his stances on political issues and being an activist. I told her that Bono probably gets his share of people bad mouthing him and all that good stuff eddie deals with. Anyways she started analyzing both of them, trying to pin point what makes eddie seem a little more prone to negative vibes, then Bono. we both kind of came to the conclusion that Bono goes about preaching his views in a more calming peaceful mature way. While Eddie tends to be a little more contriversial and wears his passion on his sleeve and takes it to that next level that really tends to piss people off. He even pushes peoples buttons, you know? He is kind of always pushing the bar, to get reactions out of the people, like when i finally heard the Uniondale boot, he kept pushing it and didn't give in to the taunting crowed. But that's what i love about Eddie, i love how he takes his passion to the next level and doesnt care what anyone thinks of it.
While i love his attitude and his how he goes about his convictions, my mother saw it as a little bit of immaturity, she brought up the bush mask shin dig he does, and the mockery and dances he does with it, and how she thinks it's unnatural for a man in his late 30's almost 40 to be so wound up and angry. She said it wasnt that his anger is immature it's the fact that he can't control his passion and impulses. (she used spitting on the crowed and telling off the girl at hershy as an example) I really disagree with her, and feel that it's just part of Eddies character, he's just a really intense emotional person, and that put that all aside he has really grown inside, i mean he picks his battles and has calmed his "impulses" a great deal in the past 13 years. But he still has alot of fire and bite left in him, and he wouldnt be Eddie with out it.

What do you guys think?
someday i hope to have the knowledge and passion that he does. whether people agree with him or not they have to respect the fact that he stands up for his beliefs no matter what.

i think his immaturity makes me a fan of his. its nice to see a near 40 yr old have a good since of humor. i only wish that i can still enjoy myself when i get his age.

tangent time- when did he spit on the crowd? (when did he spit on the crowd with malice i guess i should say)
i could be wrong but i thought i once read that ED was giving the folks in the front rows at the first detroit show 2003 a hard time. Wasnt that the show where the season ticket holders were given the first rows , not the 10 club members??

who cares, he has a great voice and a great band. if someone mistakes his passion for immaturity, so be it, there may be some truth to it, but there are many qualities that can be mistake for immaturity. a fun-loving person may be looked at as immature by some and awesome by others.

I don't think the way he expresses his political view are at all immature. He may get angry and animated but at the same time he makes a difference (like the VFC tour). PLus something like Bushleaguer is a very refined mature way to get your point across.
I thought the comments he made to the girl at Hershey were immature and unnecessary, he could have made his point without insulting her, but that is an isolated incident. I never heard about the spitting.

i didnt think they were as immature as they were unnecessary. call me a big or perv or horny bastard or whatever you want, but if a girl's flashing her tits at me, im not gonna tell her to stop.

He's a rock star, not a holder of a PhD in Communications. He speaks passionately and emotionally and I think that's why he stumbles with his words the way he does. He gets so fired up he doesn't say things as well as I'm sure he'd like to. When you read interviews with him, he's incredibly thought-out and precise.

he did back in 94 at a bar or somthing, then got in a fight...i think he got arrested or someshit.
but i woudlnt doubt that he hasnt spit on anyone in the crowed on purpose. It's a very eddie thing to do, like giving the finger.

Bono is a hippie; Ed is a fuckin punk. And i dont mean that in a bad way. I just think that Bono is the type of guy that would want to "talk it out" where as Ed is the kind of fella that would throw down if it came to it. I can see a little immaturity in that, but fuck 'em anyway. (not your mom dude)
