i've tried a couple of searches of this forum but haven't really found the answer i'm looking for.

what i want to do is set up a forum for two things
1. discussion of an artist
2. trading of that artists bootlegs (just like the forum here)

note: this artist is not pearl jam related

i was just wondering which company would be good for this. and do any of these not allow trading of live shows?

because i was looking at some rules at different hosters and they all have copyright rules etc. i was wondering if trading (not selling) live shows would fall under this or are they okay?

http://www.forumhoster.com/

this was on of the companies i was looking at. i'm real green at all this but i could handle 5 dollars a month if that's the case.

thanks.

thanx, but can you walk a newbie through this.
how do i get to this point? is it costly?

Installation of phpBB 2.0.11 requires the following:

* A webserver or web hosting account running on any major Operating System
* A SQL database system, one of:
o MySQL (3.22 or higher)
o PostgreSQL 7.0.3 or higher (preferably 7.1.x or 7.2.x)
o MS SQL Server (7 or 2000) directly or via ODBC
o MS Access (2000 or XP) via ODBC
* PHP (3.0.9 and above or preferably a recent 4.x) with support for the database you intend to use above

If your server or hosting account does not meet the requirements above I am afraid phpBB 2.0 is not for you.

i have no idea what any of this means.

thanks so much for replying.

ty

Most web hosting companies offer everything needed for phpBB (what RM runs off of, btw) included. You don't really need to know too much about what it actually does, because the phpBB setup is so simple. Simply download the latest version and follow the setup instructions. It's pretty much just uploading the directory to your server and then editing the permissions on a couple of files.
