I always pictured him as a black kid because of his name, even though there was a white kid on the covers. I guess I was a racist little boy. :?

Bugs Meany, Encyclopedia's nemesis, had some pretty funny lines in the stories that I read.

If I remember correctly, one of them is "Make like a snake and bite yourself to death", or something like that.

I read EB books whenever I could get my hands on them when I was a kid.

I hope, at some point, you'll be able to respond to me w/ something beyond my old taunt of lc.

Besides, it makes you an easy mark for EB.

Well, I have tried to frame Encyclopedia on a number of occasions -- though I am no Bugs Meany.

Ok, when I was a kid, my mom worked. We couldn't afford a baby sitter so my mom had my brother and I hang out at the local public library. Everyday after school for like 2 or 3 years. My brother and I were SO bored there cause we were kids. Anyway, we stumbled on this filmstrip series on... you guess it.. ENCYCLOPEDIA BROWN, the boy detective. We watched all the filmstrips with the horrible, horrible audio.

Amazing! And to finally have a thread pop up on this... probably 20 years AFTER the fact is... well... it's the shit.

Wow, this is a blast from the past. There's all kinds of crap in my memory, like Encyclopedia Brown, that I've forgotten over the years.

i used to have three of these books. they were not in consecutive order. one was peach, one was coral and one was green. they were shiny and smelled funny because we bought them at a garage sale. i didn't like the times that i figured out the mystery before encyclopedia.

I used to read a lot of these books but i can't remember anything from them now  .

Speaking of kids books, anybody remember the Wayside School series? That was one of my favorites. I've got literally hundreds of kids novels in my parents basement. I used to read a lot when i was younger, I guess i was a bit of nerd or something  .
