I actually thought about making a thread about this awhile back, and it crossed my mind too right before i saw MF comment on it
but these books really were genius....my mom used to run the library in our town, and like 2 years ago i was having to help do something there and there was some down time...i sought out one of the wayside books, and read about half of it, and i, um, still enjoyed it

Wow, I totally forgot about those books. Yeah, they where really good, I might have to go search for them when I get back home. Favorite story, Paul and the pig-tails.

I remember the first one was called "Sideways Stories From Wayside School," right?
I remember the weirdest details about some of the stories.
Like there was no 19th story on the school or something, it was somehow missing...and the teacher's name was Miss Jarvis I think? Then in one of the stories one of the kids gets sent there, but he can never find his way back.
Then there was a story about how one of the kids was getting a tattoo, and all the kids gave him ideas. He ended up getting a patato on his leg.
Then there was a story about how they finally put elevators in the school (it was 30 stories tall, of course), and one was made to only go up and one was made only to go down. So after one load of kids went each way, they were never used again.
Great, great, great kids books. I hope to get copies of them for my children someday.

great books, team..we shoud all reread them and discuss them here
I'm pretty sure I still have them all in my parents basement. If i can find them, we should have a group reading session. All the children of RM could gather at my feet and i could regale them with the hijinx of the kids of Wayside School.
