Even if your a D Rays fans, why will your guys win it all and why do they have no shot? Sorry, Im in a baseball state of mind!!
The Los Angeles Dodgers of Orange County, formerly of New York, via the bourough of Brooklyn, will be world champs in 06 because of one reason: NO DEPODESTA.
Gone is the Harvard nerd and his moneyball handbook, and in comes the actual BALLPLAYERS new GM Ned Colletti brought in. Real old fashioned ballplayers like Bill Mueller and Nomar garciaparra. Colletti sigen Rafael Furcal to anchor short and Nomar to handle first while the kid James Loney gets seasoning in AAA. Same deal with Mueller, a clubhouse leader from the Idiot sox days, to secure 3B before Andy LaRoche takes over for the next 12 years. Jeff Kent is the same as ever. And Izturis will be back by May looks like.
The pitching is basically 2 #2 starters and a few #3s, no real ace. Lowe should do better with his mind clear and a better defensive unit behind him, Penny has ace potential. Then there Odalis Perez, Jae Seo and Brett Tomko, who are there to get to the 6-7th and turn it over to an all world bullpen. a HEALTHY Gagne (god willing), new set up allstar Danys Baez, and a few other solid relivers.
Now, why the Dodger Blue will NOT win the series? The team is brittle, JD DRew is NEVER healthy, Nomar has had a bad few years DL wise too. Gagne is recovering for elbow surgery and hasnt topped 94mph yet, and the outfield is subpar with Cruz Jr and Kenny Lofton. The all world prospects are at the LEAST a half season away from making an impact. Theres really no HR power besides Kent and a healthy Drew. Hopefully a deadline trade could bring in a big OF bat.
either way the best news of the Dodger season will be this :NO MORE HEE SUCK CHOI!!!! hes bosox punchline now!

The Mariners will win because of Felix Hernandez, Kenji Johima, and Ichiro.
The Mariners won't win because they are going to have the worst pitching staff in baseball, and they are from Seattle. We are destined to never win anything.

why: the brewers have an exciting young team that's reminiscent of the '03 world series champs florida marlins. they went 81-81 last year and only got better during the off-season, acquiring depth in the pitching staff and infield. the youngsters have a year of experience under their belt (sans prince fielder)
why not: it may be until 2007 that we see the brewers make the playoffs (and then anything can happen). their much-hyped young studs need to put a complete season together.

i'm convinced howard is gonna belt 80 this year man...the guy is a monster
but alas...the phils won't win because they'll get off to their usual 4-11 start and make a late season push only to fall a couple games out of the wild card

The Jays will win the World Series because they have the best pitching rotation in the league, they've got the best bullpen they've had in a decade and their lineup, while not overpowering, is deep, consistent, and loaded with determination. While I have been a Jays fan my whole life, I don't think I've ever seen a group of guys have as much fun as these guys did last year. The locker room is tight, and that can translate to success on the field if you've got enough talent.
The Jays will not win the World Series because they are playing in the Northeast division. They will inevitably be beaten up by the powerhouse Yankees and Red Sox throughout the season and will require a miracle to simply beat those teams to make the playoffs.
I like playing devil's advocate. I believe more strongly in the first argument.

it must really suck being in the al east with those damn yankees and red sox...you pretty much know you don't have a shot year in and year out, since they can just buy whoever they want...there really should be a salary cap

hahaha... I said Northeast. I've got hockey on the mind.
I seriously think the Jays have a legitimate shot at the division let alone the wild card. I think they're better than Boston, and barring too many injuries to the pitching staff (Burnett is already going to miss his first 2 starts) they can compete with the Yankees.

The Expos will win the World Series because I will invent a time machine and go back to 1994 and negotiate a settlement to the labour dispute that cost them their only shot at the playoffs in my coherent lifetime and began the downward spiral that lead to the end of the franchise.
The Expos won't win the World Series because they no longer exist.
I will now go spend the entire day in a state of severe depression.

The Red Sox will win because Josh Beckett will come into his own and Curt Schilling and Keith Foulke will rebound to be at least most of what they were before he was injured, and they're much improved defensively
The Red Sox will not win because they have a weak lineup past Manny and Ortiz, and they have serious questions with regards to the age of their starting rotation (Schilling, Wells, Wakefield)

I wouldn't be worried about Wakefield. He's been one of the most consistent pitchers in recent history. I mean, is he going to get injured? I don't see it. He once threw 200 pitches in a game!
The Rangers will win because they have as good of a lineup as anyone in baseball (except for the yankees) and an improved pitching staff.
The Rangers won't win because Eaton's already hurt, Millwood probably will spend time on the D.L., Wilkerson's already banged up and the bullpen isn't good enough.
The Indians will win the World Series because they have a great, young lineup (at least 1-6) and an outstanding pitching staff that won't miss Kevin Millwood one bit.
They won't win because the bottom of their order is the definition of anti-clutch and the bullpen is questionable (although I believe it will be just fine).

The Reds will win the World Series because hell will freeze over and Ken Griffey Junior will be traded away right before the season starts.
The Reds will not win the World Series because hell won't really freeze over and Griffey will continue to drag this team to the bottom until both of his hamstrings explode.
