 Post subject: Sorta disenchanted with people in the arts

It kind of started when I watched this biography about Picasso, and he was basically an asshole.

And then recently I seen one on James Joyce, and it too portrayed him to be a huge asshole.

What's up with that? is there some random rule you have to be a jerk to achieve anything in the arts?

I would venture to guess, that in order be to an artistic genius you probably have to be pretty self absorbed. Great artists do not typically seem to have a lot of grey area withen their personalities, and are more on the extreme ends of the spectrum, so they probably do not get along that well with others. "Great" art is outside of the norm, and so are the artists who create it.

Good points, I'd also add that the great artists, their work is their entire life, it swallows them and other people may seem like intruders into their life...possibly.
