 Garfunkel has gone through some changes! I always knew there was something up, what with the high voice and all.

I saw the first but never saw the second. Roeg is one of the most unique directors I've ever encountered.

I was gonna buy it during a going out of business sale at Suncoast a while ago, but they had Ran, so I got that instead. I think I made a bad decision.

:? I like The Man Who Fell to Earth, but come on.

(Unless you're saying that because you got the old edition before the Criterion one came out.)

No, I got the Criterion. It just wasn't my thing. I've been disappointed with every Kurosawa movie I've seen except Throne of Blood. It had some really great moments (that battle scene with the score playing over the actual battle noise was one of the most spectacular things I've ever seen on film), but overall, I thought it was kind of meh.

Throne of Blood is by far the best Kurosawa. It's such a nightmarish vision, with some wonderfully stark black and white cinematography. My favorite scenes are, of course, the final battle with the arrows pinning Washizu against the fortress wall (like Scarface's final scene, but Mifune's acting is miles ahead of Pacino's over the top performance), the terrifying scene with the witch in the forest at the beginning of the movie, and the old man's performance for Washizu and his council.

Pretty much the only Kurosawa movie I never get tired of seeing, except maybe Rashomon.

Getting back on subject, I just added The Man Who Fell to Earth to my Netflix queue. Looks good.

I've never heard of any of these movies or directors.

Well, that kind of destroys my hope for any other Kurosawa movie. Hehe. I agree with everything you said, though.
