far side, peanuts, calvin and hobbes... no doubt
but i was just wondering, what is the appeal to the boondocks... it's like he just jots down his ideas and calls it a comic...
if he spent a little more time on it he could make jokes, punchlines, you know entertain while getting his point across... instead of stating obvious social commentary
i mean is humor not one of the best ways of convincing people of an idea
sorry for the rant, someone clear this dilemma up for me

It's been my favorite since before I could read when it was just the pictures. Now it's the pictures, the sentimentality, the humor and satire, and especially the characters. Calvin and Hobbes are the most wonderful characters, and it's really interesting to think of how Bill Watterson was sculpting their actions with the beliefs of the men they were named for. There are so many levels to why it's fun and clever for reading, so I always find myself in the mood for it and all the while, I never tire of opening to the same pages. Seeing their same predicaments or imaginations at different moments, whether it's day to day or between years, I can always build up a new sort of sentiment from those two.

very well written. I have often said that Bill Watterson is my favorite author. I couldn't agree more with what you wrote.
