March 24, 2006 — Elizabeth Noah couldn't believe what was attached to the anti-anxiety prescription she picked up last month at Walgreens in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.: internal computer notes from the pharmacy about her!

"It says, 'She seems shady,'" Noah said. "I just couldn't believe it. I started crying."

Florida attorney Cathy Lively is suing Walgreens on behalf of Noah and two other women who say the same thing happened to them. They say people at the drugstore chain made disparaging comments about them in computer profiles and then stapled partial printouts to their prescription bags.

"The three women in these cases were all treated for mental health issues," Lively said.

The form attached to one of the women's prescriptions reads "CRAZY!!" and "She's really a psycho."

Another one of Lively's clients picked up a prescription that referred to her as a b—tch.

These nasty notes came from the pharmacy's internal database, which is shared by more than 5,000 Walgreens nationwide.

"I don't want to be labeled as shady in a nationwide database," Noah said.

Lively doesn't know why the derogatory notes were attached. She said that although it was too early to ask for specific amounts of money damages, eventually Walgreens would pay.

"All three of the clients have suffered humiliation, absolute betrayal of their trust," Lively said.

"Personal or uncomplimentary comments about patients are totally inappropriate," Walgreens told ABC News in a statement. "This should never have occurred. We take patient concerns very seriously … and have launched an investigation."

"It is more than inappropriate," Lively said. "It is an egregious act."

I haven't even worked in a pharmacy, but working in a medical office I saw just how pissed people can get when it comes to their meds (especially those hooked on pain meds). I can imagine how much it can suck to work at a pharmacy when the customers get restless. If you're an ass to people, don't expect them to write lovely notes about you.

And how do you not? People working at a pharmacy aren't blatantly stupid enough to care about what their customers problems are (and respond in such away), unless of course they are awful customers. Of course its just an opinion from working in the service industry. Unless I was in an extremely good or passive mood, if you're a customer and you treat me like shit, expect the exact same.

This is pure victimized shit anyway. Even not knowing exactly what happened, I side with the employees. Sure, having my name in a database where thousands of other people could see it would sure as fuck piss me off, but its just a name. This is another example of why our current legal system is so fucked. Its selfish and people have no priorities.

Elizabeth Noah, "She's really a psycho."

there. Now more people have read this phrase that caused "humiliation" as a result of her lawsuit than EVER would have read it in the Walgreens Computer.

Be Offended, Complain to the manager, take your business elsewhere, or tell your friends.... but this lawsuit proves how ridiculous this customer is.

Puuhhhhhh-leaze!

They already tackled this one on Seinfeld. Made a joke out of it. No lawsuits. Fuck all you lawyers. End of story.

I wasn't defending the lawsuit, just saying that it could very well be the employees who are the assholes.

This happened at a wing restaurant in Columbus, Ohio. The print out said the person was a dick on the phone. It said something else like "spit in their food" or something like that.

okey dokey folks...for those who don't understand what it is like to have to take controlled substances to live, let me educate you:

some of us rely heavily on what our medical charts say for things like long term disability payments or SSDI payments. i just recently had something expunged from my medical chart because i am one of those people who have to keep track of what my docs are documenting about me.

one doc charted that i was "difficult", "antagonistic" and "depressed" when the reality was that i was very sick and needed his help. that spelled big time trouble for me at a time when i was too sick to fight it.

LTD companies can get their hands on every piece of medical documentation that is available about you, and since they are a business, their business is to find some way to stop paying you. any little notation like "kiddo is really pyscho" could mean an abrupt stop in payments.

BTW: if any of you fuckers are pissed off because you think i am living off of the gov't tit, go to hell. i bought and paid for private long term disability insurance; i protected myself so i would never have to suckle that tit.

so i assure you, this walgreens incident is very serious, and if i got a note attached to my medication like that, i would go ballistic.

i'm going to ask my pharmacy for a copy of my records today.

my girlfriend has worked at several pharmacies as a pharmacy tech and recently quit her latest job because she said that the other techs had some really bad things to say about the customers. she just felt like if anything was ever done to discipline her coworkers that she would end up taking some of the blame too, so she went to another pharmacy to get a job. i can understand that people can be bastards when it comes to meds, but you've also got to show a little bit of class and just do your job. you have managers and they're there to take care of the unruly customers.

I've had plenty of jobs where the customers are morons. It's impossible that pharmacy customers could be much worse than the average joe calling a federal information hotline.

But that's what happy hour is all about. You go out with your coworkers after work, drink, and talk about the idiots that make your job harder.

On a related note, when I was supervising said hotline, I had to deal with a caller who caught her operator saying, "What a BITCH!" before the phone disconnected. :x NOT fun!
